Why QA/SDET is its own category here

QA listings on most boards are dominated by manufacturing-floor QA, supplier-QA, and ISO-9001 compliance roles. Useful for some — useless for software engineers. CleanDeploy's classifier has an explicit MFG-QA gate that detects "manufacturing", "floor", "supplier", "ISO" in the title or description and rejects the posting before scoring.

What stays: SDET, QA Automation Engineer, Test Engineer, QE, Senior Test Engineer, Performance Test Engineer, Quality Engineer (when the posting describes software). Tools that signal a software-side role: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Pytest, JUnit, k6, Locust, Postman, REST Assured.

Common questions

What's the difference between QA and SDET roles?
SDET is engineering-heavy — building test frameworks, CI integration, test infrastructure. QA Automation uses existing frameworks. Manual-only QA is filtered out.
Which test frameworks dominate the listings?
Playwright and Cypress for web; Pytest, JUnit, Jest for unit; k6 and Locust for performance; Postman and REST Assured for API. Selenium still appears in roughly 30% of postings.
Do these include manufacturing or hardware QA?
No. The classifier has an explicit MFG-QA gate that rejects floor-QA, supplier-QA, and ISO compliance roles.
